Who can be interested:

  • Researchers: experiment with converting text to music and explore fundamental relationships.
  • Musicians: virtual keyboard with touch sensitivity.
  • Music composers: compose new music with algorithmic and improvisation approach.
  • Text authors: listen and share to how your text can sound.

Simple way to use:

  1. Calibrate and know your delay. Recalibrate when changing computer or browser.
  2. Record your text (choose your delay at the bottom of recording page if 100ms is not enough).
  3. After recording click Save and start tuning coefficients and listening to the results. Save best results and later access them from Results page.

Additional custom features:

  • You will be able to download MIDI file.
  • All your recordings will be available at the Recordings page.
  • You can create different keyboard layouts (binding keys to particular notes). You can specify your layout ID when tuning the algorithm.
  • You can save combinations of coefficients and later apply them to different recordings.

This project uses microphone to measure velocity (volume) of keypresses. Microphone should be close to keyboard or integrated into your notebook. You can use microphone to sing or produce other noise to control velocity of keypresses during typing.
